On October 18, 2025, we participated in Dan Japana 2025, hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Croatia at the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel.

Our katedra engaged with visitors through two interactive booths: Katakana name-writing station and Origami workshop. First and second-year Japanese Studies volunteer students staffed these booths, introducing high school visitors to the enjoyment of Japanese language and culture through hands-on activities. We also demonstrated traditional Japanese toys, including spinning tops (Koma) and Kendama, allowing participants to experience Japanese culture through physical play.
The event featured additional cultural activities throughout the day, including tea ceremony demonstrations, Yukata dressing experiences, and Sushi-making demonstrations by a professional Japanese chef. These diverse offerings created a comprehensive introduction to Japanese culture for all attendees.
Japanese exchange students at the University of Zagreb volunteered at our booths, working alongside our Japanese Studies students. This collaboration strengthened connections between local and international students while providing cultural exchange opportunities.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who visited the katedra za japanologiju booths at Dan Japana 2025. Your enthusiasm and participation made this cultural exchange event a meaningful success!
