Application Guidelines for University Exchange Programmes (AY 2026-2027)

1. About Exchange Programmes

Gunma University accepts international students with whom we have student exchange agreements for one semester or a full year and offers classes at Gunma University

○ Fall semester only: October – February

○ Full academic year: April – February or October – August

２．Eligibility

Most of the undergraduate courses are instructed in Japanese. Students must possess sufficient Japanese language ability.

 ○ JLPT N2 is required. However, this condition does not apply if the student does not intend to carry out their education and research activities in Japanese. Since the JLPT is only held twice a year, there may be cases where applicants are unable to submit proof of having passed the N2 level in time. In such cases, a faculty member at the applicant’s home university may provide a formal certification clearly demonstrating, with objective and reliable supporting evidence, that the student possesses Japanese language proficiency at or above the JLPT N2 level. This certification must clearly and convincingly verify the student’s language ability and may be accepted in lieu of the official N2 certificate.
