Contest Overview
The Japan Foundation Budapest is organizing a Japanese language video contest for students and Japanese learners in Central and Eastern Europe.

2025年のテーマ(Theme):
“Tastes of Home” (ふるさとの味)
Create a video that introduces local cuisine, traditional dishes, or food culture from your hometown or country, presented entirely in Japanese.

Eligibility

Non-native Japanese speakers residing in one of the following 13 countries:

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia

Both individuals and groups may apply


Video Requirements

Length: Maximum 3 minutes (exceeding 3 minutes will result in point deductions)
Language: All narration and text must be in Japanese
Format: MP4 file, under 1GB
Originality: Must be an original, previously unpublished work
Videos without Japanese narration will be disqualified

Submit your application through the online form by uploading your video to Google Drive and sharing the link:

Submission Deadline: November 30, 2025 (Sunday)
Winners Announcement: Mid-January 2026

1st Place: Nissin Foods products and goods assortment
2nd Place: “Marugoto” Japanese textbook series (Starter to Intermediate 2)
3rd Place: Japan Foundation original goods assortment

How effectively the video conveys the appeal of “tastes of home”
Effective use of Japanese language
Originality and creativity
